“Dani & Debora Gurgel Quarteto”, or as we kindly call it now “DDG4”, has its core in our family, and we become more and more of a musical family as the years go by. It all began more than two decades ago when both of us, mother and daughter, started playing together. But it wasn’t until Thiago Rabello came along, as music producer of Dani’s and DDG4’s albums, that our sound reached its present form.
We are not very fond of labels, genres, or trying to pinpoint styles to music we enjoy. Perhaps that is why we nd it so hard to de ne what kind of music we make when we are asked. It is made in Brazil. It is inspired by everything we listen to. And we do mean everything.
“Neon” is the most recent fusion of our Brazilian rhythms and jazz harmonies with music we have been listening to on the radio, some of them since we were kids. The selection was simple and heartfelt – these are songs we have been singing along for years in our homes, cars, in the shower. Beautiful melodies, now immersed in our hands and hearts, sounding like DDG4.
We record live at the studio – the 4 of us together, at the same time, interacting and having fun. We aim to bring to you, in our albums, our actual energy just as if we had been in your living room having a blast and playing some music. So we wish you can have a relaxing time having fun along with us, and we sincerely hope you will enjoy it and meet us in person in a concert someday.
Our best wishes to you and our gratitude to music, this universal language that can bring us so close even though we are half a world apart.
